Devonshire Square’s Easter Tree dedicated to The Honeypot Children’s Charity

As Easter approaches, WeWork Devonshire Square will be marking the festivity by hosting a lustrously colourful Easter Tree in its iconic Avenue. The artistic installation was created by the Devonshire Square Events Team in 2015 with the aim of raising awareness and funds in support of The Honeypot Children’s Charity and has been on display annually ever since, during the Easter period. The Honeypot Children’s Charity is a UK based organisation that has been working since 1996 to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years. Being the result of a collective project, the installation has been conceived as a visual hymn to childhood and symbolises the joyfulness, togetherness and light-heartedness of this season of life, that children from any background should be able to enjoy. The hundreds of real eggs that decorate the tree have been creatively hand-painted in naïve style through a range of painting techniques including water, oil and acrylic painting, along with natural dyes from red and yellow onion skins. This year’s installation promises to bring a vivid splash of colour to the historical campus as the whole community of WeWork Devonshire Square will be participating in the project by hosting daily artistic egg-painting workshops with the aim of painting 1000 eggs to decorate the tree. The workshops will take place from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 12th April, from 1pm to 3pm, on weekdays only and they are open to anyone. Everyone within the Devonshire Square’s community and all external visitors are warmly invited to join WeWork Devonshire Square in their #1000EggPaintedChallenge to raise awareness about the fantastic work that the Honeypot Children’s Charity does to offer both respite breaks and outreach support to young carers and vulnerable children. Donations in aid of the charity can be made on line through the following link: http://www.honeypot.org.uk/donate-now/ and collection boxes will also be available on all Devonshire Square’s reception desks during the Easter period, from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5.30pm. The Easter Tree has been sponsored with contributions from DSQ based restaurants Old Bengal Bar, Fish Market, New Street Grill, New Street Wine Shop and Cinnamon Kitchen. The tree will be on display in Devonshire Square’s Avenue from Tuesday 16th to Tuesday 23rd April.

  • La Luna in Classical White - Aerial Art Show

    On Friday 2nd December at 12.30pm, Devonshire Square will be proudly hosting a spectacular acrobatic performance by world class aerial artist La Luna. The beautifully choreographed act combines the grace and fluidity of classical ballet with the power and strength of an aerial hoop show. The amazingly talented artist will perform “Classical White”, a ballet inspired show, choreographed to seductive female vocals. The FREE attendance performance is part of the Devonshire Square’s “Art for Love” Christmas Festival, a four week programme of artistic events conceived and organised by the Devonshire Square Events Team to draw attention towards social causes by using the power of arts. The whole festival is dedicated to support The Connection, the busiest homeless charity in London, in aid of which the Devonshire Square’s community will be fundraising from 1st to 22nd December.

  • “Carols in the Courtyard” – Christmas Carols Concert by internationally acclaimed opera singers

    On Thursday 1st December from 6.15pm to 7.15pm, the atmospheric surroundings of Devonshire Square’s Western Courtyard will be hosting an emotionally transporting Christmas Carols Concert by some of the finest international operatic soloist. Kiwi tenor of Maori descent Kawiti Waetford who has performed for Their Royal Highness Charles, Camilla and Prince Henry of Wales, award winning Australian soprano Jessy Husk, who has performed at Sydney Opera House and the London Coliseum, British-born Armenian mezzo soprano Anais Heghoyan and dashing British-born bass baritone Matthew Buswell, who both trained at the Royal College of Music and performed in some of the most prestigious venues in UK, will be singing a cappella some of the most traditional and loved Christmas Carols. The “Carols in the Courtyard” Concert will follow the “Christmas Magic” Modern Ballet Show by LED Ballerinas which will take place from 5.30pm to 6pm in Devonshire Square’s Western Courtyard, as a stunning visual prelude to the concert.

    On Thursday 1st December at 5.30 pm, the switching on of Devonshire Square’s Christmas lights will be marked with a mesmerizing ballet show by LED Ballerinas, a troupe of professional dancers with 12 years experience with the English National Ballet. The dancers will perform a stunning choreography in delicately colored LED tutus, creating an exquisitely elegant visual effect and bringing a magical atmosphere to Devonshire Square’s historical Western Courtyard. The “Christmas Magic” modern ballet show is part of Devonshire Square’s “Art for Love” Christmas Festival, a rich programme of FREE attendance artistic performances, conceived and organised by the Devonshire Square Events Team to draw attention towards social causes by using the power of arts. The festival is dedicated to support The Connection, London’s busiest homeless charity, in aid of which the Devonshire Square’s community will be fundraising during the whole duration of the festival.

  • Lunchtime Christmas Concert by Abraxas Ensemble

    The Devonshire Square’s “Art for Love” Christmas Festival will open on 1st December at 12.30pm with a joyful and engaging concert by the Abraxas Ensemble which will take place in the historical surroundings of Devonshire Square's Western Courtyard. The exceptionally talented string quintet will present a beautiful and traditional Christmas themed repertoire, delivered with their distinctively vibrant and dynamic style. The Abraxas Ensemble has performed internationally in some of the most popular events, TV shows and festivals, including GMTV, Chelsea Flower Show and The International Music and Arts Festival in Turkey. As with all performances hosted by Devonshire Square during the “Art for Love” Christmas Festival, the FREE attendance concert will be in support of The Connection, London’s busiest homeless charity.

  • No Tricks Just Treats

    As Halloween approaches, Devonshire Square is delighted to mark the scariest day of the year by treating its visitors to an exclusive display of beautiful and delicious patisserie creations by talented sugar artist and custom cake designer Lubna Khan. A selection of finely decorated themed spooky cupcakes will be available to admire and purchase in Devonshire Square Western Courtyard on Friday 28th November from 11am until 4pm. Lubna Khan is a self-taught artist whose creations reflect her striking imagination and unique talent. Lubna’s creations are entirely hand-made using the finest ingredients and care. The display of artistic patisserie created for her “No tricks just treats” exhibition hosted by Devonshire Square will contain a range of designs that will include bloody eyeballs, witches hats, mini monsters, ghastly ghosts, and many more.     On Friday 30th September, from 12.30pm to 2pm, Devonshire Square will be marking the closure of the “Italia, amore mio” Festival with a free attendance concert by exceptionally talented Roman tenor Yuri Sabatini, a versatile artist with a beautiful tone of voice, expressive singing and passionate interpretation. Yuri will perform some of the most touching arias and songs from the Italian romantic repertoire, including arias by Puccini, Verdi, Donizetti, Ponchielli and a selection of the most well-known Neapolitan songs.

  • Legendary Jazz guitarist Jim Mullen in concert at the “Italia, amore mio” Festival

    Legendary Jazz guitarist Jim Mullen will be performing at the “Italia, amore mio” Festival in Devonshire Square Western Courtyard, on Wednesday 28th September from 6pm to 7.30pm. Mullen will be accompanied by vocalist Zoe Frances and bassist Mick Hutton. The FREE attendance concert is part of the artistic programme of the “Italia, amore mio” Festival, organised by Devonshire Square to raise funds for the Italian Red Cross’ earthquake appeal. Glasgow-born Jim Mullen is a multi-award -winning guitarist whose career spans five decades. He has worked with U S. stars including Mose Allison, Gene Harris, Jimmy Smith, Teddy Edwards, and Jimmy Witherspoon. In the UK Mullen has worked with Brian Auger, Georgie Fame, Claire Martin and had a 15 year association with saxophonist Dick Morrissey in the Morrissey Mullen band. He has recorded many CDs under his own name and currently works with his organ trio and wife Zoe Francis.

  • “Past, Present and Future” Cycle Challenge

    Devonshire Square is delighted to announce its participation in the “Past, Present and Future Cycle Challenge", organized by Coventry University in partnership with Hunters Hill Technology College, a charity organization that provides a structured, calm and sympathetic approach to children that lack confidence or have moderate learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The event aims to raise funds for the charity and promote commuting to work via sustainable and environmentally friendly methods. The challenge will take place from Wednesday 21st until Friday 23rd September 2016 and will see 21 heroic and courageous individuals cycling from the Coventry campus to the London campus, a staggering 132 miles away. The cyclists are expected to arrive in Devonshire Square entering the main gate on Cutler Street, which will be the ride finish point, on Friday 23rd, between 11am and 2pm. Following the success of last September and February’s shows, Devonshire Square is delighted to partner with Oxford Fashion Studio for the third time in supporting some of the most talented and promising rising stars in the fashion industry.   • Paralympics Sports Fest

    On Wednesday 13th September, Devonshire Square will be celebrating the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympic Games by hosting both a goalball and a balls competition. The games are organized by UK registered charity Disability Sports Coach and will take place at the end of the Devonshire Square's Avenue from 11am to 2pm. There will be opportunities for employees to compete against their colleagues for boosting morale, encouraging teamwork, improving communication and furthering productivity. Participants will also be invited to separately take part in special challenges where they could win luxury prizes, such as a signed Surrey cricket bats or a bottle of refreshing prosecco!
